Grant Allsberry's musical journey began in the quiet corners of his childhood home, where the rhythmic pulse of jazz records provided a constant background to his early years. Inspired by the legends of late-night radio, he spent countless hours at the piano, dissecting the complex harmonies and improvisational genius of the bebop masters.

After years of piano lessons and a homeschooled upbringing, his mother made the decision to enroll Grant in public school. It was there that Grant joined the middle school band. Already certain of his love for music, but still searching for his voice within it. He ultimately chose the saxophone, drawn to it by his grandmother, whose influence on his life had been both constant and profound. Within just a few weeks, Grant knew he had found his instrument.
By his high school years, Grant was already distinguishing himself, earning numerous awards and rising to become the top saxophonist in his program. His talent and dedication culminated in being recognized as the school’s number one jazz student. After graduation, Grant continued his musical journey at Lindenwood University, where his passion evolved into performance. He also began making a name for himself around St Louis.
These formative years were more than just practice; they were an education in the soul of jazz. Surrounded by many mentors who taught him the importance of listening as much as playing, Grant developed an artisanal touch that respects the heritage of the genre while pushing its boundaries into contemporary spaces.
